At present, a wide experience has been gained in the use of this drug in acute intestinal infections in children, and a number of studies have been devoted to this. Thus, it was shown that when CEFIXIME was administered orally in children with acute intestinal infection, 80% of the patients showed high efficacy of the drug and a moderate response in 20% (Kramarev SA, 2007). In this case, according to the results of the study, the drug was characterized by a favorable safety profile.
When studying the efficacy and safety profile of acute intestinal infections in the stepwise therapy together with cephalosporin drugs, it was found that CEFIXIME has high efficiency and good tolerance (Kramarev SA, 2009). It should be noted that 60 children aged 6 months to 7 years with invasive diarrhea participated in this study.

In another study, in which 46 children aged 6 months to 3 years with an acute intestinal infection caused by pathogenic microorganisms participated, a comparison of the effectiveness of the CEFIXIME preparation for oral administration with ceftriaxone and cefotaxime for parenteral use was performed (Kuznetsov, S.V. Olkhovskaya OM, 2009). According to the results of this study, in both groups there was a complete clinical and laboratory recovery of patients. It should be emphasized that the level of psychological stress in children who received parenteral drugs was significantly higher. Lezhenko also shared the experience of applying CEFICS in the treatment of salmonellosis in children, noting the advisability of such therapy. Thus, a study was conducted with the participation of patients, most of whom were hospitalized in the first 3 days of the course of the disease. At the same time, 87.7% of children had an average condition, and 12.3% had a severe condition. The following pathogens of salmonellosis were detected during the laboratory investigations: Salmonella blegdam, Salmonella typhimurium, Salmonella virchow, Salmonella montevideo. CEFIXIME ANTIBIOTIC was used at a dose of 8 mg / kg / day, which was administered 2 times a day at 4 mg / kg / day after 12 hours. During treatment, there was a decrease in the severity of the pain syndrome, which completely passed already on the 5th day of the therapy. In addition, already on day 3, 33.3% of patients stopped diarrhea, 43.9% had stool frequency 1-2 times a day and only 1.8% had up to 5 times a day. On the 5th-6th day of drug therapy, the nature and frequency of the stool normalized in all patients. At the same time, the results of laboratory studies indicated the elimination of pathogenic microorganisms in the digestive tract in 98.2% of cases.
Lezhenko stressed that when using CEFIXIME ANTIBIOTIC in salmonellosis there is a rapid decrease in the severity of the symptoms of the disease and a high efficiency of eliminating the pathogenic microflora.
